The Rules: Updated: 12/03
1. Every week there will be 10 matchups from Division I-A football that will be predicted no later than 11:59pm MST on Friday night. You do this via the admin functions found after logging in from the admin page. You may change your picks up until the deadline (hey, injuries happen mid-week, and you're "sure lock" is no longer certain, I understand) However, at 11:59pm MST on Friday night, the files will automatically be locked down and further changes cannot be made. It is this reason that only games that occur on Saturday will be eligible for selection for the 10 games of the week. Unfortunately, I just can't accomodate games earlier than that.
2. The first game listed is always the "Game of the Week". The score must be predicted along with the winner. If your predicted score is within five points of the actual score, you will get one extra BP on top of your normally awarded points.
3. At least one Upset Special must be chosen. You may choose more than one Upset Special per week. The score must be predicted in all Upset Special(s). If the winner is chosen correctly, a Bonus Point(BP) will be awarded for each Upset Special you chose correctly. If you do not pick an Upset Special, you will go 0-10 for the week. No matter what your record actually was. However, during special weeks like "Championship Week" where there are not ten games played in Division I-A football, an upset special will not have to be chosen provided there are not ten matchups and at least four qualified Upset Specials that could be chosen.
4. Every week a BONUS game will be selected to be added to the 10 matchups. This does not count for or against regular prediction stats. This game does however, count for a BP. This game may be chosen from any football game recognized on ESPN.com.
5. Rankings of teams are in parenthesis according to the AP poll.
6. To qualify as an Upset Special, AP rankings must differ by at least 5 places. If a team is unranked, and it beats any ranked opponent that qualifies as an Upset Special. For instance, if the 1st place team in the AP rankings for that week gets defeated by the 6th place team, that's a difference of 5 spots.
7. You can only, and must predict scores on Game of the Week and your Upset Special(s). If no score is entered, you will not score a BP for the game. Even if it's an Upset Special and your team won.
8. If the score of the Game of the Week, or your Upset Special(s) turns out to be the actual score, you get 3 BP's plus your normally awarded points.
9. If you go 10-0 in one week of picks, you get an extra BP added to your score. And if you fail to submit your picks for the week, you will go 0-10.
10. At the end of the season, all accumulated BP's will be added to the number of games you predicted correctly to give you a final score.
Note: Please keep track of your weekly points, just in case something happens and they get lost. Also, remember that the files get locked down 11:59pm Friday night MST. So if you want to score points and not get penalized, you need to make sure and enter them through the admin function. Thanks and at the end of the season, there will be different categories where certain analysts will be recognized for their picks. For instance, one category might be: Most Outrageous Upset Special (that came true), another might be, Most Ridiculous Pick, Best Week, BP Champion, etc. Thanks and enjoy!
