Plan of Attack:
Ok, this page is probably for my benefit only, however I wanted to do it so that I had a set plan so I could map out how I am going to accomplish all of this. On this page you will find lots of rambling and incoherent sentences attempting to explain my thinking.
This Summer: Alright, as of writing this it's now September 2004, I feel that since I had to focus on other things (getting married, riding a century bike ride) that I did a good job getting out to the mountains when I could. I'm sad that I didn't get either of the Bells when I was there, but hey...that happens! I did get my first Elk peak by doing Castle, and now have climbed one 14er in every range that has them!
Next Summer: I would like to go back to the San Juans and do Mt. Sneffles, Wetterhorn and Uncompaghre. Then, head over to the Elk Range and do both the Bells. I would imagine that I could also get a Sawatch peak such as Mt. of the Holy Cross. Unfortunately, there will be less traverses so I won't be able to get four in one trip like I did on the Decalibron, but I'll try my best to climb another 5. My goals are now less ambitious as the mountains I have left are harder and I have less time to climb them. However, I still want to be done with climbing the 14er's by the time I'm 30.
Eventually: I'm thinking I wanna save Mt. Elbert to the very end. Why? Because it's not too difficult and it's the mighty king. I wanna stand higher than I've ever stood before on my last one and this will certainly do it. Along with Elbert I think that Culebra Peak will be towards the end, just due to access issues. I didn't know it was on private land until just recently. Little Bear Peak is probably the most technically difficult one, so I'm sure I'll save it for when I'm more experienced and good weather. Who knows, usually I just do these things randomly.
Final Thoughts: I feel that this is going to be an awesome journey and I would love to welcome anybody who wants to join me on this embarkment is more than welcome to come along, I have a lot of gear that I am more than happy to share, and I promise I don't bite or anything like that. :)
