Claire grew a lot these two months, and she also got to visit her Great-Great Grandma! Finally, she got to go hiking in the new backpack that Grandparents Esser got for her.

This should catch Claire’s pictures back up to current, and hope you all enjoy them as much as we do!

So, Colleen and Claire are on a road trip, and so this is my time to work on the website, since I normally don’t have too much free time.

In the process, I have noticed that Colleen missed a few months worth of pictures, so I’m going to upload those now. Enjoy!

My brother had to correct me – Claire is watching the rocky mountain SHEEP (not goats, people). Wait and see how excited she gets when Jenn does the noise. And I know her nose looks cold, we were on our way out of the zoo and this was the last thing we stopped to look at.

We keep coming up with nicknames.. she’s just so dang cute. The big news is that Claire has her first tooth. It’s small, but it’s there and we know she can feel it! Matt noticed it on Sunday (April 6th) so she is just over 9 months old and getting her first tooth. The doctor predicted it would be soon (and so did Mommy) and we were right. Last week Claire started to “calm down” a bit, she just wasn’t her normal-constantly-moving-rambunctious-loud-crazy self. Matt called to me Tuesday night, and said- look Claire is laying on the floor. It’s true, she was… just staring at the ceiling. Other kids may do that all the time, but not Claire. Claire never ever stops moving. Ever. And that should have been our first clue that something was wrong. Later that night she puked all over Matt after her bath, and we said “aha”. This was why she was so, calm. So we prepared ourselves for the worst, but Claire was a champ. Basically she just slept a TON for the next few days and she has been pretty much back to normal. She wanted to snuggle a lot and so I have to admit, that was nice because ever since she started crawling, she has been non-stop. Then we went to our 9-month check up on Thursday and got all the new stats. Weight 18 lb 8 oz (50th% down due to her sickness) Length 29 inches (97th %) and head was in the 75th%. She is a healthy girl!!! We had a play date with Lyla and Val on Friday, and that was fun! I realized I needed to introduce Claire to BUBBLES, and so I made sure to get some when I went to the store this weekend. Lyla really likes bubbles too. Then Matt and I went to Colorado Springs for a Dave Ramsey conference on Saturday and Grandpa John volunteered to babysit so Claire got spoiled by Grandpa and Carrie all day. She was still feeling a little tired, so the report we got upon our return was that she just snuggled and slept with Grandpa a lot. But what was key was that this was the first time they have babysat and it was the longest time I have ever left Claire. The first thing they told us when we got back to pick her up was- boy can she rip ‘em. As in farts. She farts a lot. (Note to Claire in the future: of all things, you must know that this is what you did that impressed them the most on this day. Good job honey). So that’s the news with us. We are looking forward to a vacation in May to Florida, and I have been taking Claire swimming at the rec center in her bikini. We are trying to get in shape for all the swimming!

My (Colleen) mom and dad have a picture of me putting a bowl of spaghetti on my head at about 1 year old. Claire just happened to do it with a bowl of peas, and spaghetti. What a classic. You also have to know that bath time comes directly after dinner time so I pretty much let the girl feed herself. It’s just more fun that way. And entertaining. What did we do to entertain ourselves during dinner before there was Claire? (We have often asked ourselves this).Claire and Mom on the ‘Colorado Mountain Mamas’ hike in Red Rocks. It was a little cold and drizzly but we’re tough and we did the whole loop!Just Mama and Claire hanging out.Even though I swear, I will not let my children get addicted to television, I thought it would be nice one day to test Claire. I turned on some good ole Barney and thought I would see how long it lasted. Notice this picture I took? By the time I put the camera down she was crawling away. So much for a break for me!Claire always seems to position her feet like this. It’s her special move! And this means Claire is… DONE. Throwing her head back and crying, it’s her other special move.Sleeping, snuggly sick baby. When Claire was sick, the only thing that really helped make her feel better was a bath. Sometimes she had two a day. Here she is, all bundled up and NOT MOVING.Soon it was time to change Claire’s sheets (after her flu-bout) and since I had to clean the rest of her room, I put her and Sooner in the crib. It really helps to keep them out of the way. But only on days that I change the sheets. Can you tell she is feeling better? After a long day at church, Claire and Daddy were resting on the couch.Claire and bubbles! Sooner really liked to chase and pop them. Hopefully soon, Claire will catch on.Claire trying to crawl out the doggy door.Claire chewing on socks. Notice the bagillion toys in the room. Apparently we just get her socks for Christmas and birthdays now.So I decided to give Claire a popsicle to help with her teething, yesterday. It was pink and cotton candy flavored! (Even I would enjoy that!) Notice swollen gums? Poor lil babe. There’s always an adjustment in my grocery list with Claire developing, getting bigger, etc. Now I will have to add pink popsicles!!Anything to entertain while I do dishes!Claire doing her monkey-crawl through the grass in our backyard. What a serious look!?Luckily we live in a ranch-style house so we don’t have to worry about steps (except that one time…) but Claire has figured out how to climb up them. I guess she will be a climber just like Daddy. This is what we call “the pose”. Claire crawls, stops, rolls to her one hip and does “the pose”. So model-ish!As I was snapping pictures in the backyard, Claire was starting to get fussy and I assumed it was her lil tooth. I sat her down on the grass to take another pic, and she started to cry. I already had the shutter open and thought, well I might as well… and wouldn’t you know I actually got a picture of her little tooth. Poor lil babe.So why don’t I post more on toid.net? Well, that can only happen during nap time. And there are many things to do during naptime. So I decided to chance it today and put Claire in her pack-n-play while I was on the computer. See what she does while I work??? Until she runs out of cookies, and then the fit starts. The End.
