C is for Cute Claire

Not too much new this last week. Claire has started to laugh a little bit- it’s the cutest thing. She laughed at Matt and Sooner, and once when I was kissing the bottoms of her feet (she must be ticklish). It’s the craziest thing, and we try to do exactly the same thing again to make her repeat her little laugh, but she won’t do it. It’s only when she feels like it. But she is always smiling and cooing, and cooing mixed with drool sounds like “gurgle gurgle”. Also, she really likes the neon tag on her carseat, which is from the airport gate checkin (we flew to Kansas City last weekend). Matt tried to take it off, but I wouldn’t let him- she loves to stare at the bright colors and she even talks and smiles at it. I guess this goes along with- someday she is going to play with the boxes her toys come in and not the expensive toys. Right? We also went for a 4 mile hike on Saturday with Jennifer and Suri. Matt didn’t go because he was at the OU-CU game… don’t ask. But us girls sure had fun. Enjoy the pics. This weekend we are off to Topeka again.

Claire loves to try to put her whole hand in her mouth. Sometimes she does both fists… but they just don’t fit. There is always a lot of drool involved in this process. Here’s Claire, just hanging out in her crib. She is getting pretty good at sitting up by herself, but she still needs a little help from her bunny pillow (thanks Uncle Gugs).Playing with Aunt Jenn is Claire’s fave.Sometimes playing with Aunt Jenn makes Claire tired. She just passes out!Very tired Claire. The beginning of the hike. What a great day to be out in nature.Claire seems to really enjoy the bouncing of being carried in her snuggli. She’s smiling at Aunt Jenn!Jenn and her dog Suri enjoyed the hike too. Look at all the aspen trees!Mommy and Claire… hiking buddies. All the bouncing put Claire to sleep. You would think that she would get woken up, but the movement was what kept her asleep, and sometimes when I stopped she would wake up! And she really loved to chew on the strap, she even fell asleep with it in her mouth. I am sure that getting bounced around was what it felt like in my tummy all those months. It’s fun to watch my garden grow this summer. To think that I was only 4 days away from giving birth when I first planted everything, and during the last 3 months the garden has grown just like Claire has… super BIG. Well, since I didn’t know what I was doing when I planted everything, I am pretty pleased to have a nice big pumpkin for Halloween this year. I am going to let Claire carve it, ok- just kidding. There was a nice stream along the trail, and we even saw some fly-fishermen.Here’s my view during the hike. Of the cutest face EVER.This was an out-an-back trail so here we are at the halfway point. There was a nice area to walk down to the water, and we took a break to take some pictures. Claire woke up just in time!In the trees.I took a picture of this curvy tree. I don’t know why. Jenn made fun of me. I don’t care. Now we can always remember “that one curvy tree”.Ok, we got a little crazy with the camera at the end of the hike. Claire was being so cute, so be patient with all the cute pics of her. I just couldn’t help myself. Here we are right as the trail ended, before we crossed the big bridge to the parking lot.Posing on mommy’s knee. SO cute. Here we are again, the hiking girls! This is one of my all-time favorite pics of Claire. You can see her laughing at us.So bright eyed! Here is where we crossed the stream to get back to the blazer. The colors were all so beautiful.
