Rockies Game and Fireworks

Not much happened for Colleen and I over the 4th. Normally we would be hiking but due to unforseen circumstances we stayed at home. On July 3rd we went to the Rockies game thanks to Colleen’s dad for awesome tickets behind home plate. I know I haven’t had seats that close to the action…EVER. It was interesting to watch the pitchers face as he threw the ball..which is slightly faster than in church league slow-pitch softball. ;)

The fireworks were entertaining and it didn’t rain on us at all, which was nice.

On the 4th itself I went on a bike ride with Ryan to the flagship REI and back. It was about 24 miles round trip. We had a great time and enjoyed having a frapp halfway through the ride. Although, something tells me there’s a reason the riders in the Tour don’t drink that much sugar while riding…bleh!

Finally I worked on the basement arranging the office and running electricity the the newly installed recessed lighting by yours truly. Obviously I didn’t electricute myself, so I have that going for me. Which is nice. :)

Yo Toid! Just letting you know that I’ll be riding my bike with the man….Lance!!!…on RAGBRAI this year (three weeks away, to be exact). It’s this huge hooplah up here, and I’m sure I’ll never get within five million feet of him, but hopefully I’ll get to see him. My friend and I have this elaborate scheme to “pass Lance” as he stops at a fruit stop, so we can forever say that we were riding faster than Lance Armstrong. We shall see if it works out, and if not, I’ll just try to snag him for a little post-ride “workout”, if you know what I’m saying ;) tee-hee

HAHAHAHA! That’s awesome Shannon! Definitely take some pictures with your digital camera, because I want to see! However, any post-ride “workout” pics are between you and the internet. :)

How far/often have you been riding?

Let’s see…Lisa (girl who is riding the ‘BRAI with me) and I went on Freewheel (okfreewheel.com-I think) the second week of June and we finished 340/411 miles. There was one day that we intentionally skipped to go swimming and another day was going into Tahlehquah. Don’t know how often you were ever there, but it is freakin’ hilly as shit!! There were these ex-girlscouts that volunteer for fruit stops, and they were going into Tahlequah after closing up their stop and stopped to ask if we needed water. I said “Thank God you’re here” and I just threw my bike in the back of their truck before they knew what hit them. So I took to SAG of shame ride into town, I was so through.
After that…haven’t ridden at all. We just moved into our new house, my bike is in pieces in the basement. Guess I should get moving on that one pretty soon….

LOL! Yeah, you’re not going to be passing Lance anytime soon if your bike isn’t even in one piece…unless of course you plan on attaching a 120hp twin-engine to it, in which case, I could guarantee that you could pass Lance, regardless of whether or not he stops for his fruit snack. :)

That’s hilarious that you threw your bike in the SAG wagon like nobody’s business! I’m still laughing. But congrats on riding 340 miles! Ride On!
