How Toid.net Blogging works…(at the moment)

Matt | May 16, 2006 | Nerd | 352 words and 1,506 views | 4 comments

Ok, so you know me personally or are a random visitor to my site, I thank you for checking //toid.net out!

Basically, I started to fall away from updating my website because it was just too much work. I’ll not go into details but I had to be on my Gentoo Linux computer at my house to update and that alone was enough to cause me to just not want to walk downstairs. Enter the Blog.

Blogging is just so much easier because I can do it from anywhere and it now saves it all in a database that I can use to save all the information without having to manually do any coding. No wonder so many people blog…

So, here’s where you come in.

I know you think it’s a pain in the *@!# to register for a site and make a comment, but I’m asking you to please do that once, so you’re in the database of users and then when you go to post a comment it doesn’t have to wait for my moderation (I’m doing this to keep spam down) We should all look to Shannon for already doing it! (Plus the stats will keep track of how often she Posts, etc, as long as she uses the same name and email address everytime)

Blog, Blog, Biggity Blog-Blog-Blog

As you can see, I am trying to figure out how to “accessorize” my blog with many options such as the weather and capture the comments and other feeds for all my nerd purposes.  If you happen to see my site unavailable for a while, that’s ok, I’m just updating something.  But I do have to admit, I see why so many people blog…but then again, most people don’t just create their own blog on their own site.  They use blogger or blogspot or something similar.  Uggg…it’s late.

Mothers Day

Colleen and I spent most of the day (and Colleen spent most of the weekend) helping out her mother get her yard cleaned up.  Jeff (Colleen’s brother) and I dug out the biggest tree stump ever.  It took forever to get that sucker out of the ground!

Biking…second time this year

So, I got out on my road bike today, for the second time this year and it was much better than last weekend. I actually managed to average 16.7mph for the final five miles coming home (and NO it’s not downhill!) My rear end also didn’t get sore, although I did develop a cramp in the arch of my left foot. Oh well. Life goes on.
